    In this newsletter we will try to help you further 
    your knowledge and use of essential oils.

    Lime

    Botanical names: Citrus aurantifolia
    Country of Origin - Haiti, USA, Central America, West Indies, Italy
    Processed - Steam distilled & Expeller
    Part used - Peels 
    Smell - sweet fresh citrus
    Pale yellow to olive green colored
    Note - Top note

    PROPERTIES & USES: Antiseptic, anti viral, bactericidal, digestive, febrifuge, astringent, stimulant, aperitif, anti rheumatic, restorative, and a tonic

    Skin & Hair: Acne, boils and other skin infections, cuts, insect bites, deodorant and useful for oily skin and hair.
    Respiratory:  bronchitis, sore throats, asthma, catarrh
    Muscular/Skeletal: Arthritis, cellulitis, rheumatism
    Cardiovascular: circulatory stimulant, helps with high blood pressure and nosebleeds 
    Immune:  fights viral infections - colds, flu and fevers (has a cooling effect)
    Digestive: digestive tonic and helps with intestinal discomforts, dyspepsia, stomach cramps, flatulence.
    Genito/urinary/reproductive: increases urine
    Nervous - Brain/Mind:  helps with apathy, anxiety, nervousness, depression, restlessness, exhaustion. Refreshes the tired mind, is uplifting, stimulated, cheering, refreshing and restorative. 
    Endocrine -  n/a

    Industry/Commercial/ Other uses: fragrance component in cosmetics, perfumes and soaps. and used to flavor many soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. 

    CAUTIONS:   Non toxic but can cause skin irritation. The expeller pressed essential oil can cause photo sensitization. The steam distilled version doesn't. 
    *DO NOT TAKE ANY ESSENTIAL OIL ORALLY - Any essential oil - ingested in large (and sometimes even small) amounts can be fatal.*
    *Keep out of reach of children.*

    REFRESHING SPRAY #1
    Distilled water - 4 oz
    Lime - 90 drops
    Peppermint - 50 drops
    Eucalyptus - 10 drops
    Emulsifier - 5 ml

    Add essential oils and emulsifier into a clean bottle then pour distilled water into the bottle  Shake well then spritz in the air. Shake well before each use.
    (500 Formulas by Schiller & Schiller)

    REFRESHING SPRAY #2
    Distilled water - 4 oz
    Lime - 50 drops
    Grapefruit - 50 drops
    Orange - 10 drops
    Patchouli - 10 drops
    Emulsifier - 5 ml

    Add essential oils and emulsifier into a clean bottle then pour distilled water into the bottle  Shake well then spritz in the air. Shake well before each use.
    (500 Formulas by Schiller & Schiller)

    The above 2 blends can be used in any diffuser by omitting the emulsifier and water. Just blend in an amber bottle, shake well and then apply a few drops to your favorite diffuser. 

    To Soothe Insect Bites
    Juniper berry - 2 drops
    Basil - 2 drops
    Lime - 1 drops
    Sesame oil  - 5 ml

    Blend essential oils in carrier oil.  Shake well and apply a small amount to the bites every few hours.

    FOR OILY HAIR
    Ylang ylang - 9 drops
    Lime - 9 drops
    Rosemary - 8 drops
    Grapeseed Oil - 2 tablespoons
    Mix all ingredients then apply 1 teaspoon to hair and scalp and massage in. Allow to penetrate for several hours or overnight. Wash your hair with a natural shampoo (unscented) washing it twice. Use 3 times a week.
