CARPET CLEANER & DEODORIZER using natural essential oils
Using essential oils for deodorizing your carpeting or rugs will give them a nice
fresh scent, unlike commercial deodorizers.
In certain areas of the country with HIGH Humidity or with warm temperatures that we see in the summer, all our carpets might develop an unpleasant odor.
If you don't have time to shampoo and clean them properly you can do a quick deodorizing by adding a few drops of essential
oil to baking soda or borax, then sprinkle on the carpeting about 15 minutes prior to vacuuming.
Good oils to try include:
Lemon,
Clary Sage,
Geranium,
Bergamot,
Lavender,
Grapefruit and
Lime.
I personally like any of the Pine needle
and Spruce needle scents especially in the winter months.
For a change of pace, Fennel
or Anise are fun too.
Some people prefer the mint scents. So you might add Peppermint
or Spearmint .
Deodorizing the carpeting is easy to do with essential oils and you can have fun experimenting until you find the oil or blends of oils
you feel give you the freshest smells.
Remember all essential oils have antibacterial, anti fungal, anti microbial and antiseptic properties to varying degrees.
If the odors are coming from any of these sources, the oils will help destroy the odor causing germs too.
