CEDARWOOD, ATLAS Cedrus atlantica
Part used: wood,stump and sawdust
Country of Origin: Morocco, North Africa, Algeria
How processed: Steam distillation
Smell: Pleasant balsamic (woody)
Note: base note

PROPERTIES: Antiseptic,antifungal, expectorant, circulatory stimulant, sedative, aphrodisiac, tonic (energizer), insecticide (bug killer).

COMMON USES: This oil is used in perfumery and used extensively in soaps.

BLENDS WITH: All woody and floral type oils such as Bergamot, Cypress, Clary Sage, Ylang, Ylang, Jasmine, Juniper, Rosemary, Neroli and Vetiver.

MEDICINAL USES: Internal- bronchial (breaks down mucous),urinary infections (find out cause through medical assistance), arthritis. External- acne, alopecia (baldness), anger, dandruff, eczema, fear, fungal infections (athlete's feet), oily skin.

CAUTIONS: Avoid if Pregnant or breast feeding. As with any essential oils - ingested in large amounts can be fatal. Keep out of reach of children.

Cedarwood when used for building, the aroma repels termites, ants, moths, and other insects!

Inhalation formula:

2 cups boiling water
Eucalyptus - 12 drops,
Cedarwood - 6 drops,
Rosemary - 3 drops,
Peppermint 6 drops,

Pour blend into bottle, shake well and then add 5 drops to the boiling water (place in a stainless steel bowl), lean over bowl and place towel over head to inhale the oils. Caution - remember sometimes less in oils is better than more.

Here's another blend to try:

Hair Tonic
20 drops Basil
10 drops Cedarwood
10 drops Rosemary
Blend oils together, massage a few drops into scalp nightly. It will not leave the hair feeling greasy. .......................
