Part used: wood, stump and sawdust
Country of Origin: Morocco, North Africa, Algeria
How processed: Steam distillation
Color: Slightly yellow to orange to amber
Smell: Pleasant balsamic (woody)
Note: base note

Additional Info:

This is a type of evergreen tree. It has needles, it produces cones with seeds. This tree can reach heights as tall as 100 feet. It has branches that spread wide. It gets its name from the Atlas Mountains in Northern Africa. The tree has a very long life span easily reaching several centuries.

PROPERTIES & USES:

Therapeutic:

Antiseptic, antifungal, expectorant, circulatory stimulant, sedative, aphrodisiac, tonic (energizer), insect repellant.

Inhalation:

Upper respiratory ailments; bronchitis, chest congestion; anxiety, stress, tension; may encourage self confidence and inner strength

External/skin applications:

may be helpful with dandruff and various skin conditions; arthritis, rheumatism, muscular aches,

Industry & Household uses:

insect repellent; men’s fragrance in a variety of products

COMMON USES:

This oil due to its’ masculine scent is used in perfumery, soaps for many men’s products. Cedarwood aroma repels termites, ants, moths, and other insects! Great to use when you are storing clothing for season use.

BLENDS WITH:

All woody and floral type oils such as Bergamot, Cypress, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Juniper berry, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Neroli, Sweet Marjoam, Sweet Orange, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Ravintsara, Rose Absolute, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Thyme, Vetiver, and Ylang-Ylang.

CAUTIONS:

Keep out of reach of children. No known contraindications, non-phototoxic.

BLENDS TO TRY

Inhalation formula for Sinus, Nasal and Chest congestion:

Eucalyptus - 12 drops
Cedarwood - 6 drops
Peppermint - 6 drops
Rosemary - 3 drops
2 cups Hot water (boiling water is NOT needed)

Pour essential oils into a small bottle to blend, shake well and then add 3-5 drops to the Hot water (place in a stainless steel bowl), lean over bowl to inhale the oils. You can place towel over your head if desired but this is not necessary. Caution - remember less in essential oils is better than using more. This blend is not to for use by children under 12 years of age. Adults and over 12 years only.

Here's a few blends to try:

Hair and Scalp Tonic

Basil - 20 drops
Cedarwood - 10 drops
Rosemary - 10 drops
Jojoba or other carrier oil – 4 ounces

Blend oils together, massage a few drops into scalp nightly. It will not leave the hair feeling greasy.

Romantically Scented Massage for Men

Cedarwood – 5 drops
Jasmine – 5 drops
Rose absolute 5% - 5 drops
Carrier oil such as Sweet Almond or Fractionated coconut oil – 1 tablespoon

Blend oils together. Use as massage.

Calming blend to help after a busy day

Cedarwood – 5 drops
Roman Chamomile – 5 drops
Petitgrain – 5 drops

Simply place these essential oils on a diffuser pad or other diffuser and enjoy while you wind down for the day!
