The Big Birch Tree!





Hi Visitors and Customers, Just a little about Birch Hill Happenings. Birch Hill Happenings has been in existence since 1987. Originally we started out as Al's Small Engines back in 1981. When Penny decided she wanted to broaden the horizons with Al's creativity in woodworking. They decided to change the name of the company. They thought long and hard and since they have this HUGE Birch Tree in their front yard that just happens to be on a Hill, imagine that! By the way the picture of the tree on all our pages "IS" that tree!! This is how it looks in late summer. As time allows and the season's pass I will try to get photos of this magnificent tree as it changes during the year and from different angles so you can see how beautiful this tree really is. This tree is esimated to be over 100 years old. Penny's father remembers it as a child and he was over 87 years old at the time of his death this past year.  We decided, what a great name for a Business. In actuality, with our 3 sons quickly growing and being busy with them, in scouts, fishing, camping, etc., the Name and Business were set aside.  Al no longer did any small engine repair (except on our own equipment) nor built any more toy boxes (really nice ones!) and Penny's dream of a Bed and Breakfast were far into the future. (Dreams change and so we no longer plan on having a Bed and Breakfast - but we do have a lovely 'guest'  Bedroom for out of town visitors - mostly Al's Dad and Penny's Sister) Every thing sat dormant until April 1997 when it had it's rebirth in the creation of Birch Hill Happenings, Aromatherapy, Essential Oils and Supplies. The three Sons are pretty much on their own these days so  Mom and Dad have time to use their energies to pursue other interests! Thanks for being Curious!    Al and Penny
