CARPET CLEANER / DEODORIZER ARTICLES

Holiday guests are coming and you have been busy cleaning every other aspect of your home.

Ever notice how when cooler temperatures arrive some smells come out to haunt you.

And, well that old carpet needs shampooing and oh, you just don’t have the time.

You would love to clean the carpet but if you don't have time to shampoo and clean them properly you can do a quick deodorizing by adding a few drops of essential oil to baking soda and sprinkle that on the carpeting about 15 minutes prior to vacuuming.

Good oils to try include:

Bergamot, Clary sage, Geranium, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon,and Lime.

Our Air Freshen blend is great for this use. If you have dogs in the home this blend has been our all-time favorite to help with pet odors.

If the odors are coming from dirt and germs, the oils will help destroy the odor causing bugs too.

Simply put 1 cup of Baking Soda in a glass jar. Add up to 45-50 drops of your favorite essential oils or blend. Shake well and let sit overnight.

The next day, sprinkle over your carpeting. Let set on the carpet for a minimum of 30 minutes but no longer than 2 hours. Then vacuum as usual.

A quick blend that I enjoy is just using equal portions of Peppermint and Grapefruit. Light, minty and refreshingly sweet.

PERFECT FOR THE HOLIDAYS - SPICY ORANGE CARPET BLEND

Orange – 25 drops
Lavender – 15 drops
Clove bud – 5 drops
Cinnamon leaf – 5 drops
Baking Soda – 1 cup

Blend all ingredients together in a glass jar let sit overnight, sprinkle on carpet, let sit for 30 minutes and vacuum.

Let it sit for a little while, then with a clean bag in your vacuum cleaner vacuum the rug thoroughly.

Here is a recipe to use. But you can always pick one of your other favorite recipes you use to clean around the house or pick one from the many found in the Recipe Book “Aromatherapy Recipes using Pure Essential oils Volume 1” by Penny Keay

Carpet Cleaning and Deodorizer

6 Tablespoon Borax or Baking Soda
3 drops Lemon
1 drop Clary Sage
5 drops Lavender
1 drop Grapefruit

Mix all ingredients and sprinkle on carpet. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then vacuum thoroughly.

Please keep pets and children off the carpet after you have applied the powder mixture and until you vacuum it up.

You can just put a few drops of Essential oils in the vacuum cleaner bag too.

Phew! All done? Now it’s time for a nice long hot bath. Don’t forget to add some Bath Salts to relieve those kinks and sore muscles!! /p>
