As you prepare to do your holiday cleaning, you'll want to add some essential oils to either your washing water or your rinsing water. As you know, essential oils can be useful to disinfect and leave all the areas you clean with a light scent.
The easiest, is simply add several drops of any Citrus essential oil to your bucket of soapy water.
For heavy duty cleaning and scrubbing use our Liquid dish soap.
It is an unscented organic based cleaner. You can add your favorite essential oils.
Do not forget, there is the All Purpose Cleaner that can be used in the Cleaning bucket or in a Spray bottle . Again, add any of your essential oils you prefer.
A good dilution to add to your bucket would be about 8 to 10 drops of essential oil to 1/2 gallon of warm water. Since you are adding a soaping or sudsing product you do not need to use an emulsifier. You can if you want but it is not necessary.
Favorite essential oils used for cleaning are Grapefruit, Cypress, Lavender, Orange, Lemon, and Lemongrass. You can also make a blend of these.
During the winter months’ you might want to consider Pine or Spruce needle oils. They disinfect and smell very festive.
All essential oils have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and other germicidal properties to varying degrees. Of course, the uplifting properties will help brighten your spirits as you do your chores. They may make them seem to fly by and soon you’ll be done!
If you have a problem with mildew or mold, which usually has a telltale smell, the cleaning can be a little more difficult.
You may want to add stronger oils such as Cinnamon leaf, Clove bud, Thyme or Oregano to your cleaning solutions. These are stronger oils that can help clean the odors and deter the growth of mold.
We know folks like to use Four Robbers blend or Pure Cleansing blend in their cleaning buckets too. These are great for this task.
They are blends of the popular citrus oils but also have the extra boost of the stronger essential oils.
Don’t forget your refrigerator and all those cupboards. Wipe them down too! For the Refrigerator how about adding some baking soda to the water and adding a few drops of Citrus Blend or Lime essential oil.

Try this simple but very effective cleaning method! Not only will it help leave your glass windows and mirrors sparkling, the essential oils will help to freshen-up the air for a little while.
Simply apply a drop of oil onto a newspaper and rub over the window or mirror.
