This is a question we are asked a lot. Often times though the first time that someone will ask is when there is a problem with a diffuser they are currently using.
This is an indication there is a problem not with the diffuser but with the type they are trying to use. And unfortunately they are usually asking too late, as it is often time when someone has purchased a diffuser and then contacts us saying it doesn’t work.
Well, all diffusers work. The one you are using may not be the correct one for your situation or needs.
There are many, many different factors that have to be considered when choosing a diffuser.
Before I direct you to a couple of articles that have more very in depth information I will list briefly some things you will need to think about before purchasing your next diffuser(s).
First – Are they for you or a family member? How old? Are there pets?
Are they for use in the House, an Office or just by your desk?
Is it for treating an ailment such as a respiratory problem or are you treating an emotional concern? Are you just diffusing a scent in the area? Or provide ambience while entertaining or quiet times?
Is the room large or small? Does it have high ceilings with or without fans? How about ‘traffic’ through the room? Is this a large waiting area? Or is it a smaller exam or patient room?
There are so many factors to consider. We want you to understand there is also a strange fact about your olfactory system. Yep, we are talking about your sense of smell.
When Mother Nature created the wonderful sense of smell she did it as one of our most basic needs. We use our sense of smell for many factors. It is part of our primal brain, the limbic system.
Not only does the sense of smell help us to find and enjoy food, but its main purpose is that of protection.
It alerts us to ‘dangers’ in the wild. There are such things as wild animals, fire and many others that could threaten our life.
Now the ‘strange factor’ is called “Olfactory Fatigue” and it is where your sense of smell will ‘shut down or off’. This is another of the main Factors you have to consider and realize when it comes to choosing a diffuser.
If you can’t smell the essential oils you just put into the room your olfactory system has ‘blocked’ the scents, as it no longer feels they are a threat. It is scanning the air for other ‘dangers’.
